Kumulonimbus

Kumulonimbus, the Latin term for thunderclouds, is the title of a series of linocuts that form the core of the exhibition.

Starting with a finely structured linoleum plate, which serves as the basis for all further prints, images with different meanings are created by intervening in the printing process. During the printing process, the white areas in each image are redefined in terms of form and texture by sprinkling various materials such as plant seeds, spruce needles, etc. on the plate. At the same time, the order and intensity of the ink application is regulated by standing, walking, kneeling or lying on the paper that lies on top of the inked plate. The size of the images requires the use of the whole body. Since the image is created on the floor and from behind, it can only be seen in sections during the working process. The transfer of bodily experiences is just as important as the controlling eye.

The second part of the exhibition shows pencil drawings that are thematically related to the linocuts. Similar to the latter, they are created by applying pressure: the outer world and the inner world meet here, the image is created at the interface between the body and the material.
